Classical guitars have slightly smaller bodies than steel-string guitars. They use softer nylon strings and have a wider neck than steel-strings. Because of this, many people choose to start on a classical guitar.

Steel-string guitar
Steel-string dreadnought guitars have slightly larger bodies than classical guitars. They have slimmer necks more similar in size and shape to an electric guitar neck. They produce a louder and brighter sound than classical guitars. If you ever hear rock or country music played on an acoustic guitar, it’s usually a steel-string guitar.
